Vocalis Group plc announces launch of The Talking Network

Vocalis Group plc ("Vocalis"), the international speech technology group, today announces the official launch of The Talking Network, a new business division, incorporating Vocalis' existing Internet services business. The new division will deliver the provision of voice activated managed services as a primary business resource including the two existing Internet services, SpeechMail, the email by phone service and SpeecHTML, which allows telephone access to web-based information.

Mike Williams, Business Development Director at Vocalis, is appointed as Chief Executive of The Talking Network with effect from 1 February 2001. Commenting on the formation of the new division, Mike Williams, adds, "I am delighted to be taking on the role of Chief Executive of this new division, which will focus on an exciting part of the voice recognition market. The Talking Network operates a very different business model, i.e. the provision of managed services, in comparison to the speech systems side of the business. The Internet products and services business unit within Vocalis has already started to successfully establish itself within the market place. The creation of The Talking Network as a separate business entity will give it greater focus and increased operational independence."

Charles Halle, Chief Executive of Vocalis adds, "Creating a new division with its own corporate identity is the next step in the further development of the Internet services business. This new division will assist in developing greater presence and brand awareness within its target market with a clearly defined role and product set."
