Vocalis gives websites a voice
Vocalis Group plc, a world leader in Advanced Speech Recognition (ASR), is pleased to announce an agreement has now been signed to offer SpeecHTML to 1,000 companies in a pilot implementation. This is the first step towards securing the newly identified £3bn market opportunity for SpeecHTML, the recently announced web/telephony service. Vocalis is the only company to offer this service and following a successful pilot programme Vocalis will be well positioned to take a significant part of this new market.
The pilot scheme will be offered to 1,000 clients, servicing a range of industries and offering a variety of services. The participating companies will be given a telephone number that they will be able to promote and distribute to their customers. This telephone number will allow customers to access information and to interact with the company's Website using spoken commands over the telephone (detailed information and live demonstrations can be accessed on http://www.speechtml.com). The pilot is scheduled to go live early December 1998 and the full service is to be launched early 1999.
SpeecHTML allows companies to offer a telephone number, using their web pages as the source, which gives callers information and allows interactive transactions over the telephone using spoken commands. Customers need only an ordinary telephone to call these services, and use the natural and easy interface of speech to request their required information. Companies can update their web pages quickly and easily, and this will automatically update the telephone service, giving a real time service that is flexible and easy to manage.
