Vocalis runs SpeechMail Pilot with Novell

Phone Access to Email Provides More Functionality


Vocalis, the international speech technology group, and Novell, Inc., the leading provider of Net services software, today announced an agreement to add telephone access to Novell GroupWise® email through Vocalis SpeechMail. Enhancing Novell's powerful knowledge platform, this alliance will provide easy voice access to the Novell GroupWise business communication backbone. Over 300 Novell GroupWise corporate customers will participate in this pilot program.

Vocalis SpeechMail enables a user to manage email by telephone using a combination of advanced speech recognition, and text-to-speech technologies. Using spoken commands, the user can send, retrieve and delete email without a computer or direct Internet access. Over 50 leading international Internet Service Providers currently use Vocalis SpeechMail, including BT Internet, Cable & Wireless, and UUNET.
