Vocalis, the voice recognition and call processing specialist, today announces that two of its existing clients have recently signed new orders with the company. The UK’s fourth largest bank, the Abbey National, and Ericsson have confirmed orders together worth over £210,000.

Abbey National’s telephone banking customers will benefit from a faster and more efficient service. The Vocalis system will replace the bank’s existing telephone banking service front-end, to provide increased call-handling capacity and additional functionality. It will greet callers automatically and route them quickly through to a fully automated telephone banking service or to an operator. The new system will be up and running early in 1997.

Ericsson’s order is an extension to the contract Vocalis announced in June 1996, in respect of a major programme to automate Telekom Malaysia’s directory enquiries service. Vocalis and project partner Ericsson have been contracted to add a new call centre site in Kuala Lumpur. Vocalis and Ericsson are working together to provide Telekom Malaysia with the world’s first dual-language, part-automated directory enquiries service that callers can talk with.

Vocalis chief executive Jeremy Peckham said, "We are delighted. When world-leading customers such as these come back to us for more, it is positive confirmation that our products and services add real value to their telephony operations."
