Vocalis becomes one of the first voice processing specialists to integrate to Dialogic's CT MediaTM 2.0

Vocalis, the international speech technology group, today announced the integration of SpeechWare, its speech recognition engine, to Release 2.0 of CT MediaTM, the telecommunications server software from Intel Corporation's Dialogic subsidiary . Vocalis is one of the first voice processing specialists to have made its speech recognition engine compliant with the new platform, released only a few weeks ago.

CT Media is the software tool for designing standards-based telecommunications servers being widely implemented today. CT Media makes application development easier and enables applications from different suppliers to interoperate on a common communications server. New technologies can be added to the server without the need to change existing applications. It simultaneously supports telephone switching, messaging, voice-enabled Internet services, interactive voice response (IVR), fax, automatic call distribution, speech, and other applications from different vendors.

"Vocalis is the one of the first, if not the first, speech system vendor in the world to integrate its recognition engine to CT Media 2, and as one of the leading players in the voice processing industry, we are pleased this has happened rapidly and easily for both companies." said Steve Greenwood, General Manager and Director of Dialogic in the UK.

Mike Banbrook, Speech technology Marketing Manager, for Vocalis, commented: "We immediately recognised the importance of the new version of CT Media 2.0. Its significantly enhanced function will make it attractive to designers across the telecommunications industry. Making SpeechWare compliant was a top priority for us to ensure that our speech recognition engine can be used by the greatest possible number of speech toolkit vendors. We look forward to having discussions with speech toolkits vendors about integrating with their products."

Version 2.0 of CT Media provides a series of new features, in particular, the facility for developers to create applications for both circuit and packet-switched networks or any combination of the two. Other enhancements include support for Revision 2 of the ECTF S.100 software voice processing standard, improved management through SNMP, and extra functionality for designers including Unicode support for easier international deployment, and Open Containers for flexible handling of data storage.

Dialogic is also planning to release a beta version of an updated CT Media 2.0 Resource Development Kit (RDK), which will make it easier for third-party resource creators such as speech algorithm developers and voice board vendors to develop CT Media-compatible solutions.
