Vocalis Group plc AGM statementVocalis Group plc ("Vocalis"), the international speech technology group, held its Annual General Meeting in Cambridge today where all resolutions were duly passed. Roy Cotterill, Chairman of Vocalis, in welcoming shareholders to the AGM commented: "Since the announcement of the Preliminary results for the year ended 31 March 2000, I am pleased to report some encouraging developments within the business. Whilst in the short term we remain dependent on the timing of SPEECHtel orders, I am pleased to report our Internet services division is making progress in the US market and we announce today three new partnership agreements with Hot Telephone, Total1 and Worldshare who will be promoting SpeechMail to their US based users. With regards to the US corporate market, we are pleased to announce that Novell Corporation is conducting a trial of SpeechMail to be offered to the US corporate market. We are also now beginning to see the results of our continued development and promotion of our core speech recognition technology, SpeechWare, and announce today an exclusive agreement with Backchat/2CV who will use our technology to provide voice portal services, the first of which is a weather forecast service offered by weatherforsport.com. In the telephony systems division we announce today that Ericsson Mexico, has signed an agreement under which Telmex, the Mexican fixed line network operator, extends its commitment to SPEECHtel for a further 5 years bringing the total contract value to $6 million to be spread over the next 5 years. In addition, we are pleased to report that the relationship with BT Syncordia Solutions is progressing well. These successes are indications that we have adopted the right strategy designed to attack our target markets and, given the present level of interest in our technology within these markets, we are confident of a successful long-term future" |
